Meet katherine

Hello friends, I'm so pleased to have you here! A native to northeast Ohio, you can find me exploring + swimming at the river, hiking our amazing metroparks, out with my Nikon taking photographs, reading a good book, or making fresh crusty bread. I'm a budding gardener and vegetarian enthusiast.

My journey of art + spirituality has taken many unexpected twists + turns, as I've spent the last 15 years or so diving into spiritual ecology and rediscovering ancient rhythms of mysticism, contemplation + silence that have been a heavy influence in my recent art making. The moment I began to seek, I was already found, a thought that comforts and propels me onward on this seeking journey of discovery.

I'm married to my college sweetheart for 14 years and we have 4 really awesome kids who keep us busy and on the go. We are involved in our local church that we deeply love and we enjoy going on adventurous, creative experiences with our family. Along with our kitty Ruby, we live in a suburb of Cleveland.

Artist Statement

My creative work seeks to illuminates the interconnectedness and symbiosis of the natural world, our fellow beings, ourselves and the Divine -- all in relationship + conversation with one another. We are earth emerging from earth and I seek to honor that sacred connection visually with my personal art. The beauty of the wilderness and the incarnational presence of God thrumming throughout creation are the main inspiration in my work.

My creative themes are rooted in cosmic ideas: the indwelling of Christ baked into the natural world and the outpouring of God’s wild love through the majesty of creation. I often enjoy writing poetry that compliments + pairs with my art pieces. Poetry, theology and art are the heart beat pulsating through the veins of my body of work.

Creating from a heart-centered space, so much of the art-making process for me is slowing down into silence to deeply pay attention and art as spiritual practice, Visio Divina, that strives to put the human soul in direct contact with the living God who is surrounding us with perfect, present love in this very moment. I aim to sharpen the focus on the imago dei woven into each of our beings and the inherent goodness that reality brings forth in this world, honoring Divine + Humanity, in union together.
